SoundHouse Construction is proud to be a leader in blending fine craftsmanship, innovation and technology to offer an extraordinary level of construction services to our clients. Simply put: we build healthy safe beautiful homes and commercial spaces that will endure the wear and tear of time.

SoundHouse works to realize the best vision of the client while employing the “best practices” in building as it has been done for generations by knowledgeable and caring craftsmen. We add value to our clients’ building projects by using what is best in traditional construction techniques while also using appropriate new technologies that improve building durability, structure integration, fine finishing and extended maintenance.

Safety, Quality and Performance are our standard operating priorities.

SoundHouse offers a work environment where conscientious tradesmen are encouraged to do their best because they are respected, supported and they work in safe conditions. The company’s high safety standards are a result of and reflect a history of 32 years of work without a major or moderate accident. And we intend to keep it that way.

We maintain our quality standards by employing mature craftsmen who are supervised by an experienced vigilant management. Weekly in-house crew review meetings provide a time for the exchange of on-site issues. We maintain a shop for specialty work and utilize the latest in cabinetry and power tool equipment.

SoundHouse has a proven track record of on-time scheduling and on-price project completion to take the guesswork and accounting worries out of your project. Our service includes computerized line-item progress tracking and cost controls.

Richard Russell operates SoundHouse and consults through the Building Consultation Group, both in the San Juan Islands and throughout Washington. A fourth-generation carpenter, Russell is a man who knows his materials, understands structural integrity, and knows the standards of his trade inside and out. But more than that, he respects beauty, values safety and quality, and cares deeply about relationships with people whether architects, crew or clients. He has been a licensed contractor for 32 years and a master house carpenter for over 40. Russell was recruited to serve as general contractor for the Emmy Award winning PBS television series This Old House special on Bungalow Houses.

Clients need to know that all contractors are not the same. Genuine pride and achievement in high levels of care are reflected in our actual work product and the tenure in the profession.
